Kikwete tours explosion site

President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday visited the site of Wednesday night’s explosion at an army base in Gongo la Mboto. He was accompanied by the minister for Defence and National Service, Dr Hussein Mwinyi; Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Davis Mwamunyange and other TPDF top officials. At the site, President Kikwete was informed that a total of 23 depots had been destroyed by the explosions. Other facilities which had been destroyed include vehicles and offices. He was also told that 20 people have been confirmed dead and more than 300 injured.
